M—Recap/discuss “The Women.” Discuss and read “The Death of Agamemnon.” HW: complete comprehension questions

T—Reviewed answers to comprehension questions for “The Death of Agamemnon.” Discussed Greek Tragedy and theater. Watched five minute segment of “The Orestria” to see how a Greek tragedy would have looked in its day. HW: Read chapters “The Adventures of Menelaus” and “Nestor at Home.”

W—Recapped HW chapters; vocabulary in context exercises; HW: Read “In the House of the Swineherd” and “The Bow is Bent.”

F—In groups, students determined their top five heroes and villains in the overall story with supporting reasons.

5th

M—Students received instructions for The Phantom Tollbooth Essay Assignment; Discussed ideas; began in-class hand-written outline to organize thoughts for essay. HW: None.

T—Continued demonstration of outline. Students continued to compose outline . Checked in with each student to monitor progress. HW: If students did not complete outline in class, they were to finish at home before Wednesday.

W—Demonstrated how to turn outline into composed text; students worked on laptops, troubleshot tech issues.
